Ask Claude, ChatGPT or your own AI about your lettings.
RentFig’s MCP connector plugs your property portfolio into the AI assistant you already use. Ask who owes rent, which certificates are due or how a property is performing — and get answers from your own RentFig data. Read-only, signed in as you.
On every paid plan · included in your free trial
Which of my tenants owe rent, and is anything due for renewal this month?
Used RentFig · Rent arrears, Compliance overviewTwo tenants are behind: Flat 2 owes £450 (12 days) and Room 3 owes £600 (31 days). One gas safety certificate, at 14 Elm Street, expires on 28 October.
Read-only, enforced by the database
An assistant's connection can only read. It can't change, add or delete anything — even if it tried.
Signed in as you
You sign in to RentFig (with two-step verification if you use it) and approve the app. It sees only what you can see.
Disconnect any time
Settings → Integrations → AI assistants lists every app you've connected, with a Disconnect button.
Works with the AI assistants you already use
Any AI app that can add a custom MCP server with OAuth sign-in can connect to RentFig. Here’s where each one stands — each links to its exact setup steps.

- Gemini app (gemini.google.com): Google's custom connectors are limited to some Gemini plans, and their sign-in step is currently reported not to complete. Gemini CLI should work instead.
- Microsoft Copilot (consumer app): It doesn't let you add your own connectors. Copilot Studio can, with Allow other AI apps switched on.
- JetBrains AI Assistant: It doesn't yet document OAuth sign-in for remote MCP servers.

Connect in three steps
Step 1
Copy your RentFig address
In RentFig, open Settings → Integrations → AI assistants. The address is https://www.rentfig.co.uk/api/mcp.
Step 2
Add it to your AI app
In Claude, ChatGPT or your app of choice, add a custom connector (or MCP server) and paste the address.
Step 3
Sign in and allow
A RentFig page opens. Sign in, check what the app can and can't do, and choose Allow read-only access.
Exact steps for each app are in the setup guide, and inside RentFig under Settings → Integrations → AI assistants.
What is MCP?
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard for connecting AI assistants to the software you use. Instead of copying figures into a chat, you connect RentFig once and your assistant looks things up for itself — the latest arrears, the next certificate due, last quarter’s profit and loss. RentFig’s connector is a remote MCP server: nothing to install, and it uses standard OAuth sign-in.
Your data, your choice
What your assistant reads — including tenants’ names and contact details — goes to the company that runs it, under that company’s terms. You choose which assistant to connect, you approve it on a RentFig page that lists exactly what it can see, and you can disconnect it at any time. Unrecognised apps are blocked unless your account owner allows them, and then show a warning first. See our privacy policy.
Frequently asked questions
What is an MCP connector?
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT connect to other software. RentFig's MCP connector is the bridge: once you connect it, your assistant can look up your properties, tenancies, rent arrears, compliance and profit and loss in RentFig and answer questions about them.
Which AI assistants work with RentFig?
Claude — tested by us — plus ChatGPT, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Cursor and Gemini CLI, which use sign-in methods RentFig already accepts (not yet tested end to end by us). Other apps that can add a custom MCP server with OAuth sign-in — such as Perplexity, Mistral Le Chat, Grok, Copilot Studio, n8n and Zapier — can connect once your account owner switches on “Allow other AI apps”.
Can the assistant change my data or send messages?
No. The connection is read-only, and that's enforced by the database itself, not just by the app. It can't change, add or delete anything, send emails, WhatsApps or letters, move money, or open your uploaded documents.
Which RentFig plan do I need?
Any paid plan — Starter, Standard or Business — and it's included during your free trial. It isn't available on the Free plan. You also need a plan with your AI app that allows custom connectors.
Where does my tenants' data go?
What your assistant reads — which can include tenants' names, email addresses and phone numbers — is sent to the company that runs that assistant (for example Anthropic for Claude, or OpenAI for ChatGPT), under that company's own terms. It's your choice which assistant you connect, so only connect one you trust with that data.
Can my team members connect their own assistant?
Yes. Each person connects and disconnects their own. A team member's assistant only sees the sections and portfolios that person already has access to in RentFig. Contractors can't connect one.
Does it work with the Gemini app?
Not yet. Google's custom connectors in the Gemini app are limited to some plans and their sign-in step is currently reported not to complete. Gemini CLI should work instead (not yet tested by us).
How do I disconnect an assistant?
In RentFig, go to Settings → Integrations → AI assistants and click Disconnect next to it. It stops working through RentFig's connector straight away; any access it already holds ends within the hour and can only read.
